100 Voice Choir

A choir made up of 100 children from 12 schools across Cardiff will perform on the world famous Wales Millennium Centre stage during two of Eisteddfod week’s main ceremonies.

The choir, which we have sponsored, has been trained under the watchful eye of Mair Long, and will sing in the Daniel Owen Memorial Prize ceremony on Tuesday afternoon and in the Drama Medal ceremony on Thursday.

Speaking about their involvement in the project, Paul Bishop, WPD’s Corporate Communication Manager said, “WPD is a long standing supporter of the National Eisteddfod and is delighted to sponsor the children’s choir.  

“Businesses like ours have a responsibility to play a full and active role in the communities they serve. We hope that the choral initiative will not only help children to develop their musical skills, but also their cultural awareness and social interaction.” 
 
Elfed Roberts, Eisteddfod Chief Executive added, “The support of companies like WPD is invaluable to us. Without our sponsors and supporters it would be impossible for us to offer opportunities for children and young people at grassroots level.

“These children will have a chance to sing on one of the world’s greatest stages in ceremonies which will be broadcast live on television, radio and online.  

“It’s a fantastic experience for them, and something which could not have happened without the support of WPD.”

The National Eisteddfod ran until 11 August.
