A successful 50 years

Paul Wedgbury, a Craft Planner with us is celebrating an impressive 50 years of service in the industry.

Paul Wedgbury with his certificate for his 50 years of service with his Team Manager Steve Jervis and Tipton Distribution Manager John Kendrick.

Paul, who lives in Bloxwich near Walsall, joined as an Apprentice Electrician in 1966. Over the years he has carried out roles as diverse as electrical jointing, substation work, showroom deliveries and reading and fixing meters to collecting two shilling pieces from meter slot machines.

“I’ve liked the variety and seen a lot of changes during my time like when all our regional offices were centralised. Thankfully, as WPD we’ve gone back to regional offices, which seems to work better all round,” said Paul, who is married to Chris and has two children and four grandchildren.

“I’ve enjoyed my time but I’m now planning to retire at the end of the year on my 67th birthday.”

As well as babysitting for his grandchildren once he retires, Paul plans to take wife Chris back to the resort in the Maldives where they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
