And the award goes to.....

It's been a very busy and eventful week for us at this Year's Royal Welsh Show.

Simple circuits were a hit with the public.

The week got off to a flying start when our safety exhibition stand won the Best Educational Stand award. We were commended for providing a wide variety of science based puzzles and games aimed at children and adults alike. We promoted safety messages in a fun and interesting way and our safety super hero Pylonman was on hand to help with our safety quiz.

Winners of the art competition with Pylonman himself.

Over 1,000 visitors entered the quiz and the winner was 6 year old Gruffudd Williams from Conwy, who won an iPad mini.

We had some special visitors to the stand, the Royal Welsh Regimental Band and their mascot Sherkin Jenkin the regimental goat called in to say hello. On Tuesday, 99 year old retired WPD engineer Harry Poloway, BEM, and WW2 veteran was guest of honour at the RAF Spitfire flypast and salute in the main ring afterwards, Harry visited the stand.

Thanks to Techniquest who provided some of the exhibits and a big thank you to all those who visited the stand.

Very proud WPD members of staff after being awarded the Best Educational Stand Award.
