The apprentice application deadline is looming

We are urging anyone who is interested in a new career for 2015 to act quickly and apply for one of this year’s 100 apprentice positions before the application deadline at noon on Friday 6 February.

Western Power Distribution owns and operates the electricity distribution network, providing power around the clock to homes and businesses across the Midlands, South West England and South Wales. 100 vacancies are available over their region.

Our people are at the heart of our business’ success and our apprentices of today will be our skilled staff of tomorrow – safely delivering outstanding levels of customer service and operational performance for our customers.

In addition to the minimum qualifications required (5 GCSEs, inclusive of Maths, English language and Science Grade A-C), we are looking for individuals with good communication skills, both written and verbal, individuals who are ambitious, enthusiastic and prepared to take a hands on approach, and committed to giving 100% in the training programme and beyond. The job would also be of interest to individuals who work well as part of a close team and like to work outdoors.

Apprenticeships take two to three years to complete and include formal in-house training at WPD’s own Training Centres as well as on-the-job training at a local depot.

Jobs available include Linesmen, Jointers and Fitters.

You can find out more about the apprenticeship scheme and make your application by visiting www.westernpower.co.uk/careers.
