Our Innovative training wins top award

We have been awarded a top A&B Cymru Award (Arts and Business) for our work with disability charity Hijinx Theatre Group.
The A&B Cymru awards encourage, acknowledge and celebrate exemplary partnerships between the private sector and the arts.
At a ceremony in Cardiff recently, we were declared the winner of the Arts, Business and Employees category for our work with Hijinx, who were enlisted to deliver workshops to our customer contact centre staff based in Cardiff and Derby.
The workshops were designed to further improve understanding and enhance communication skills with vulnerable customers.
Hijinx actors with learning disabilities use role play techniques to act out scenarios to encourage staff to start thinking about the different ways to communicate in a broader, more flexible manner.
The judges unanimously agreed that this was a truly exceptional partnership and a clear winner of the category.

Clare Williams, Chief Executive of Hijinx explained: “Our partnership with WPD began in 2002 when the business supported our Odyssey Community theatre group.
“Since then, the relationship has developed to address the business’s training and community engagement objectives. We are absolutely thrilled the partnership has been recognised in this way.
WPD’s Corporate Communication Manager Paul Bishop said: “We are delighted that our partnership with Hijinx has received this prestigious award. The training has proved invaluable, and will definitely assist our staff when dealing with vulnerable customers in the future.”
