G59/2 Large Embedded Generation
If you propose to install any generator that is rated greater than 16A per phase (or a wind turbine) you should contact us first to discuss your requirements.
Until 2 March 2012 some wind turbines rated up to 16A per phase may be considered under G83/1-1 but we will have to make an assessment first. Please click
here for more information.
Further information is available from the Electricity Networks Association booklet
A Guide to connecting Generation that falls under G59/2 to the Distribution Network. To view the booklet please click
here.
For all larger generation we will need to carry out a detailed investigation of our network to ascertain what effect the proposed generator will have. Before we can do this you will need to provide us with certain information.
Type Tested Generation up to and including 75A per phase
If you wish to install a generator unit rated >16A per phase and up to and including 75A per phase that has been type approved to G59/2 you may notify us using our Application For Connection form. Please click
here to view the form.
If we consent to the installation of the generation unit you must also tell us when it has been installed using the Commissioning Confirmation form. Please click
here to view the form.
Non Type Tested Generation
For all other generation the best way to provide it is by using the industry standard application form. The form was developed by the Electricity Networks Association. Please click
here for the form and guidance notes before completing and returning it to us.
We also publish a leaflet outlining connection considerations for distributed generation. To view the leaflet please click
