New trees have recently been planted on a site that is going to be used as a memorial for the miners of Cwm.
Volunteers from the British Trust for Conservations Volunteers (BTCV) and Tredegar Estate Management Service (TEMS) got together to plant the trees following funding by Western Power Distribution, the South Wales electricity business.
Steven Cole from BTCV said: “The wooded site is very rocky and generally challenging for planting, but the TEMS volunteers wouldn’t give up. Despite the cold and mucky conditions they remained cheerful and managed to get the job done.”
