Western Power Distribution (WPD) has been presented with a National Wales Award by BREEAM. (Buildings Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method scheme).
BREEAM awards recognise and reward the design and construction of the highest scoring buildings certified under BREEAM that year; a best of the best approach.
WPD’s most recent award was presented by Welsh Assembly Member, Jane Davidson, Minister for the Environment, Sustainability and Housing. The award recognises the success of the WPD depot in Llandrindod Wells in the Industrial category.
David Withers, WPD’s Property Manager said: “This is the second BREEAM award for this building. Having an ‘Excellent’ rating was a pre-qualification to being considered for this National Award so we are delighted that our environmental commitment has been independently assessed and rewarded in this way.”
Matthew John, BREEAM Assessor added: “Achieving a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating for the WPD unit was greatly assisted by strong communication through the design team and the early involvement of the Assessor.”
