New Partners provide Life line for the Elderly
A new partnership is helping vulnerable people in the Bristol area feel more secure in their own homes.
Bristol based charity the Dolphin Society has joined forces with electricity provider Western Power Distribution (WPD) to provide alarm units for over 50 elderly and disabled people living alone across the city.
The long established and well known charity aims to help elderly and disabled people remain independent by helping them feel more confident and safe at home.
“We have been installing alarm units for several years in homes in Bristol and the surrounding areas. We are delighted to have won the support and backing of WPD for such an important initiative, which has meant that over 50 more deserving people have received practical help,” explained Society President, Jos Moule.
“The alarms are simple to install and easy to use. For instance if a person needs help because they have fallen or have a medical condition, they simply press a button inside their home. It can also be used within a fifty yard radius of their home.
“This gives them the reassurance that they can quickly contact help should they need it,” said Jos.
Graham Halladay, WPD’s Distribution Manager for the Mendips explained: ”Safety is a number one priority for our business and we pleased to be able to help provide these safety alarms to help older people living in the Bristol area”.
