Bardney has the power

10/05/2018

Work to upgrade the electricity network in Bardney is to start later this month.

We are investing over £200,000 to lay and install a new 11,000 volt underground cable which will support the demand for electricity in Bardney and the surrounding area while safeguarding the reliability of electricity supplies to homes and businesses for years to come.

Work starts on Monday 28 May, with a section of Ferry Road being closed from this date until 3 June to allow for around 300 metres of cable to be laid safely. An official diversion route will be in place while the road is closed. WPD has notified local bus companies, and Stagecoach will be running an alternative bus route, which will be advertised along bus stops in the lead up to the road closure.

“WPD is committed to investing in its network to further improve supply reliability and customer service levels. This investment will safeguard electricity supplies for customers in the region by improving the infrastructure and security of our network,” said David Humberstone, WPD Team Manager for the area.

Added David: “Our aim is to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum. We’ve been speaking with Lincolnshire Highways who requested that we work during the school holidays to reduce traffic congestion. We have also been in contact with Wragby, Fiskerton and Bardney Parish Councils and written to local residents and businesses nearby to inform them of our work. We’re also doubling our resource and extending working days to complete the work as quickly as possible.”
