Horncastle improvements

Work has begun to upgrade the electricity network in Horncastle, further improving supply reliability to 1,000 homes in the area.

We will be placing underground around 4km of overhead line to free-up land for additional housing in the Langton Hill and Thimbleby Hill areas. The initiative will also meet the needs of our Polypipe’s manufacturing extension at our base on Boston Road Industrial Estate.

We are committed to investing in our network to further improve supply reliability and customer service levels, and initial work around the industrial estate, and at nearby roads like Boston Road and Mareham Road has already begun to fit in with half term.

“This investment, which will take around eight weeks to complete, will safeguard electricity supplies for customers in the region for years to come by improving the infrastructure and security of our network,” said Phil Woodcock, WPD Team Manager for the area.

Additional cable-laying will also take place throughout the town later in the year, with everything completed by late autumn. All work will be carried out at off peak times on major roads to ease traffic flows.

Added Phil: “Our aim is to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum. We’ve been working with Lincolnshire County Council to schedule our works in the area, and we’ll also be speaking with bus companies and keeping customers and business along the route informed by letter.”
