Young artists shine at Royal Show

Artistic pupils at Weston All Saints CE Primary School in Bath have swept the board at this year’s Royal Bath and West Show in the annual Children’s Safety Poster Competition.

Pupils were invited to use their skill and imagination to design a painting or drawing illustrating how to stay safe around electricity.


Overall winner Talia Galise of Weston All Saints School, Bath, is pictured receiving her prize from WPD Director Ian Williams WPD’s Superhero Pylonman and Weston All Saints Headteacher Dr Anne Bull OBE at the Royal Bath and West Show.

Talia Galise was declared the overall winner, she was also awarded 1st place in her age category 10-11 years. Talia received a £30 cash prize and goody bag and her school received a £400 cash prize.

Over 600 children from across the South West entered the competition sponsored by Western Power Distribution (WPD), in total 12 pupils from Weston All Saints were awarded prizes.

In the 10-11 year category, Annie Lancaster was awarded a second prize of £20 and Emily Walker and Neve Moyle were awarded highly commended.

In the eight to nine-year-old category, Rosie Sanderson was awarded a second prize of £20, while Natalie Parr and Morgan Andrew were awarded highly commended.

In the five to seven-year-old category, Evelyn Lydiate won a first prize of £30, while Charlotte White won a second prize of £20 and Anya Frodin won a third prize of £15, Lincoln Andrews and Tim Jones received a highly commended.

WPD’s Resources and External Affairs Director, Ian Williams, who presented Talia with her prize, said: “The overall standard of entries was excellent. This competition is always very popular and we have been sponsoring it for many years. Each year the youngsters manage to delight us with their creative ideas.”
