Becoming a stakeholder
A stakeholder is anyone with an interest in our business, or who is impacted by what we do. This will include domestic and business customers living in our area, who rely on us every day for their power. Other stakeholders include housing developers, charities or consumer interest organisations, the police, Local Authorities and MPs – to name just a few.
If you’re interested in what we do, we’d be happy to hear from you.
Latest stakeholder events
We recently hosted our annual stakeholder workshops in January and February 2017. We were delighted to welcome over 260 stakeholders at a series of six events in Plymouth, Newport, Bristol, Cheltenham, Birmingham and Derby.
Topics discussed included our current performance delivering our 2015-2023 Business Plan, reviewing WPD’s long-term strategic priorities and specifically discussing our actions to transition to a Distribution System Operator and address our environment and sustainability responsibilities.

We are now in the process of collating and analysing the feedback received. In early March 2017 we will publish an independent report detailing the findings from the events, alongside a list of actions WPD propose to take as a result.

Stakeholder events - General information
Around 16% of a typical household electricity bill is paid indirectly to us so we can distribute power to our customers. Our Business Plan, which was built with the help of stakeholders, sets out our investment plans for 2015-2023. To look at our plans and how we accounted for the views of stakeholders click here.

We run regular consultations and workshops to allow us to obtain our stakeholder’s views. We want opinions on topics such as investment priorities, measures we use to ensure we are delivering our promises, timescales for business changes and improvements to our working practices.

Register your interest
Would you like to register as a stakeholder? We don’t set any specific requirements or minimum attendance levels – just register using this online form and you will receive a ‘no obligation’ invite to our next event.
Consultations are usually managed online and we obtain comments by email, in person or on the telephone. Workshops are attended in person and held in various locations so stakeholders can attend at their convenience. They usually involve some insightful presentations about our business and the chance to share thoughts and opinions. Workshops are always attended by some of our senior management team and by managers who run the relevant local depots.
