Emergency cable repairs in Tutbury

Essential repairs to an underground electricity cable near the junction of Burton Street, Ironwalls Lane and the Balk in Tutbury are taking place this week.

The work involves replacing around 30 metres of cable which supplies electricity to over 527 homes and local businesses in the area, following a fault on the cable.

In order for engineers to work safely, traffic lights are in place on the junction of Burton Street, Ironwalls Lane and The Balk. The work has started today and engineers will work as quickly as possible to carry out the repairs. It is anticipated that the work will be completed by next week.

Simon Roper, Team Manager from WPD said: “The work is necessary for us to maintain the security of electricity supplies in the area. We’ve been liaising with Staffordshire Highways to agree the times of our work, and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience it may cause.”

Power supplies will not be affected while the work takes place.
