We know that community energy organisations play a vital role in driving the net zero transition because they work from the ground up, as trusted intermediaries, bringing their friends, neighbours and wider communities with them.
We have now released the National Grid Electricity Distrubution Net Zero Communities Strategy, this aims to set out the work we have done in collaboration with community energy groups over the past seven years.
Currently the network in some areas is constrained because it wasn’t designed for two way flows of electricity. Flexible smart solutions to balance the supply of electricity and increasing demand at a local level can overcome these challenges and provide exciting opportunities for communities to get involved.
