Benefits of being on our register

We know that some people need a little extra help, which is why we offer priority support to those who need it.

By registering for our Priority Services Register, you’ll get extra support during a power cut if you need it. Our Priority Services Register is suitable for elderly, very ill or disabled people, or those who rely on power for medical equipment.

If you join our FREE Priority Services Register, we can:

  • Provide a dedicated and direct number you can call during a power cut to get straight through to us.

  • Agree on a password with you before we visit, so you know you can trust the person at the door.

  • Provide special help through trusted partners such as British Red Cross if you need it.

  • Keep you up-to-date on any planned interruptions to your power supply.

  • Stay in touch with you during an unplanned power cut, including advice on how long it will last.

We work closely with partners such as the British Red Cross who can provide emergency support to people without power. While we very rarely need to use it, this support can be essential during an emergency.

We also work with the fire service who offer an Online Home Safety Check which can take you through each room of your home to help identify potential fire risks and help you take steps to reduce potential risks. We are commited to helping those customers who need it most and we want to make it easier for our customers to sign up for priority services and to get help from other utilities such as energy suppliers and water companies. Therefore, we may also share your personal information with energy and utility companies, such as gas and water companies, so you can also benefit from their support.

For further information regarding how National Grid Electricity Distribution will process and safeguard the personal information of customers who are members of National Grid Electricity Distribution's Priority Services Register (the "PSR") please see the PSR Privacy Policy here
