Details of the work

A new 11kV cable will be laid through the village to enable Barwell to cope with the electricity demands of the future, including an expected rise in electric car charging.

Temporary, rolling traffic lights will be in place during these essential works.

A three day road closure will be necessary on Bank Terrace and Arthur Street. This is scheduled to take place during the Easter holidays to minimise disruption.

The roads affected are:

Queensway, from Moore Road to Regent Street;

Chesterfield Road, Meadow Road, Shenton Road, Frisby Road and Newlands Road, at the junction with Queensway;

Kingsfield Road, from number 19 to Arthur Street;

Arthur Street, from Kingsfield Road to Kirkby Road;

Kirkby Road, from Arthur Street to Stapleton Lane;

Stapleton Lane, from Kirkby Road to Bank Terrace;

Bank Terrace, from Stapleton Lane to the rear of the Co-op.

Reasons for work

These essential works will enable Barwell to meet future electricity demands. The work will benefit more than 4,000 customers.
