We invite you to attend a consultation event as part of the process to update our losses strategy at the IET Birmingham on 9th December, 10:00-15:00.

Publication and periodic review of the losses strategy is a feature of the RIIO-ED1 price control mechanism. The Losses strategy submitted as part of our price control submission is updated annually and the current version can be found here.

At our event we will explain the progress that has been made with the new elements and areas that are under consideration in our losses strategy. We would value your input and views on our work this year and our proposals for future initiatives.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) will also be at the event to give an update on Transformer Auto Stop Start (TASS) for Losses Reduction.

As part of the TASS update SSEN will introduce the Evaluation Tool used to assess the financial viability of TASS at individual substations. Distributino Network Operator (DNO) attendees are invited and encouraged to bring data to assess their own sites of interest, which would require the following information for each primary substation:

  • no. of transformers
  • ONAN ratings for each transformer (MVA)
  • iron & copper losses for each transformers (W)
  • transformer ages
  • 1 years’ worth of substation load profile data
