£1.5 million investment for Lincoln power network

A major initiative to boost power supplies and support the development of new homes and businesses in Lincoln is due to begin on August 22, 2022.

We are committed to investing in its network to further improve supply reliability and customer service levels.

This £1.5 million initiative involves the installation of around five kilometres of underground cable between WPD’s substations in Anderson Lane and Spa Road. Once complete, this will help to further improve supply reliability to around 13,000 customers in the Lincoln area.

The first phase of work is expected to take four weeks to complete and will involve the installation of 130m of electricity cables on Queensway, Greetwell Road and St Annes Road.

To enable our contractors Doocey Civil Engineering to carry out the works safely, Greetwell Road will be closed at the junctions of Queensway and St Annes Road between August 22 and September 5. The diversion route for Greetwell Road and access to the hospital will be via Wragby Road and Outer Circle Road. Following the road closure, temporary traffic signals will be used from September 6 to September 30.

“This investment will help to safeguard electricity supplies for both our existing and future customers in the area for years to come by improving the infrastructure and security of our network,” said Matt Roe, WPD Team Manager for the area.

Matt added: “Our aim is to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum. We have worked closely with Lincolnshire County Council and Cadent to minimise the inconvenience in the area and to allow our electricity and Cadent’s gas works to take place simultaneously, and reduce the length of disruption to motorists.”

The project forms part of our commitment to provide a consistently high level of service to customers. Over £7billion is being invested by the company on its electricity network between 2015 and 2023.

Local residents are invited to contact Craig Stevenson from Doocey’s if they have any queries on 07512 712813 or Dean Hayhurst from WPD on 07889 707472.
