£400,000 investment for Monmouthshire power network

Over £400,000 is being spent to further improve power supplies in Little Mill, Usk and surrounding area.

We are committed to investing in our network to further improve supply reliability and customer service levels.   This new initiative, which is due to start in June, involves installing around 4km of underground electricity cables. This will reinforce the electricity supply to enable the connection of a new main water pumping station at Prioress Mill. It will also help to further improve supply reliability.

“This investment will help to safeguard electricity supplies for both our existing and future customers in the area for years to come by further improving the infrastructure and security of our network,” said Adrian Taylor, Engineering Specialist for the area.

Electricity cable installation and excavation work will begin at the Little Mill Railway Bridge in Berthon Road to the entrance of BAE systems (formally ROF Glascoed). It is expected to be completed by the end of August.

Adrian added: “The work is necessary for the area but we do appreciate that there may be some disruption to residents and road users. Our aim is to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum, and we’ve been working closely with Monmouthshire County Council to ensure any necessary diversions and signage will be in place.”
