Acorns Children's Hospice

Young people at a local children’s hospice can look forward to a range of fun activities, thanks to support from Western Power Distribution (WPD).

The Midlands’ electricity business has donated £3,600 to Acorns Children’s Hospice in Worcester for the charity’s Adolescent Programme, which will fund their youth club, magazine and weekend activities for the next year.

Lee Wallace, WPD’s Distribution Manager for Worcester, visited the hospice to meet staff and take a closer look at the work they do.

Lee said: “I’m delighted that we are supporting such a worthwhile cause. The work that Acorns do for children and their families is fantastic. We’re looking forward to working together and raising more money in the future.”

Elinor Eustace, Corporate and Partnerships Manager at Acorns, thanked WPD for its support: “We rely on voluntary income and donations for the majority of the £8million plus needed every year to run our services, so support like that shown by WPD is vital.

“The Adolescent Programme plays an important role in our work with children entering into their teens, helping them develop life skills and build their confidence.

On behalf of everyone at Acorns, I’d like to say thank you to WPD for their generous donation.”
