We're partnering with Arthritis Action

We have partnered with Arthritis Action. The partnership will allow the charity to collaborate on a number of upcoming projects to help support their continued pledge to improve the quality of life for people living with arthritis.

We are sponsoring the new Online Groups for the East Midlands, West Midlands, and South regions, where people living with arthritis can meet with others from their local area. For more information and dates for the upcoming groups, which begin later this month, visit the Events Calendar. We are also sponsoring the charity's upcoming Trek Snowdon Challenge in September, where members of the public can sign up to trek across Snowdon for a day.

We are partnering with Arthritis Action to raise awareness for our free Priority Services Register among people living with arthritis, which helps them provide services and look after anyone with extra communication, access or safety needs. Stella Hayward, Corporate Communications Officer for WPD, said:

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Arthritis Action, we believe it is the responsibility of large organisations like ours to play a full and active role in the communities they serve. Supporting charities such as Arthritis Action is a good example of our commitment to that. We hope partnering with the charity will help us to reach out and support customers who are affected by arthritis, and increase awareness of our Priority Services Register (PSR). Our PSR is there to help customers who rely on electricity for medical equipment or who maybe elderly, very ill or disabled. It’s free to join, and helps us to look after customers who have extra communication, access or safety needs. It also helps us tailor our services to support households who may need extra help during power cuts. Sometimes power cuts can happen for reasons beyond our control and we know this can be particularly worrying especially for our vulnerable customers. We hope that working with Arthritis Action can help us to reach out to people affected with Arthritis and encourage them to visit our website to find out more information and to sign up to our free PSR Register."

Shantel Irwin, CEO of Arthritis Action, said:

“We’re very happy to be partnering with WPD, who are helping us reach more people living with arthritis by bringing our services and events to new areas of the UK. We believe that WPD’s Priority Service Register is a great way to look after people with additional safety needs such as people with arthritis. We look forward to collaborating with WPD more in the future.”
