Children enter the Power Discovery Zone

Western Power Distribution (WPD) has launched a new educational website, dedicated to teaching primary school children across the Midlands, South West and South Wales about electricity and how to stay safe around it.

Almost 6000 primary schools have been contacted by WPD to encourage teachers and children to visit the new Power Discovery Zone site and to use the new resources.

Jocelyn Meekums, Education Liaison Officer for WPD in the Midlands explained: “The Power Discovery Zone is packed with free downloadable worksheets designed to fit with the National Curriculum at Key Stage 2. There are also games and puzzles that, as well as being fun to play, promote and teach safety, which is a WPD priority.”

To celebrate the website launch, the company offered four lucky schools the chance to win a class trip to either Techniquest in Cardiff, Drayton Manor, @Bristol or the Eden Project in Cornwall. The winners will be announced shortly!
