Walkers, runners and cyclists using The River Avon Trail near Feeder Road, can follow their favoured pastime with the reassurance of knowing a new defibrillator is nearby should they need it!

Thanks to the combined efforts of the Friends of Troopers Hill and local businesses, £2600 was raised to purchase the new defibrillator which is housed at Didac Woodwise Academy which overlooks the trail and river.

Andrea Duignan, a Compliance Manager for Smart Metering at Western Power Distribution, and regular user of Troopers Hill approached us seeking support, she said, “We had raised a significant amount towards this new kit but just needed a final push, which I am delighted the company could provide.

“The River Avon Trail is well used but this new kit will be a bonus for everyone in the local area.”

Callers to the emergency services will be notified of the position of the new defibrillator and provided with the access code. No training is required to use the equipment which is programmed to sense if a heartbeat is present and will only operate if nothing is detected.
