Volleyball Wales

Youngsters in South Wales are celebrating after receiving new volleyball training nets and posts enabling them to take part in volleyball taster sessions.

Volleyball Wales established in 2009 is providing taster sessions in schools around South Wales, with a view to demonstrating the sport and hopefully inspiring schools to purchase their own equipment and to introduce volleyball into their curriculum.

In addition to providing the taster sessions in schools Volleyball Wales are also offering coaching courses to enable teachers to teach the sport in schools.

Yvonne Saker, Chairman, Volleyball Wales explains: “We really needed a portable free standing net and post system so that the sessions could take place either indoors or outdoors safely when we visit schools.

“We approached Western Power Distribution (WPD) for funding and were delighted to receive a donation which enabled us to purchase the equipment. Our main aim is to develop the youngsters and provide opportunities for them to take part in their own tournaments.”
