Community sports stars recognised

We have supported the first South Wales Argus Sports Awards.
And former British sprinter and Olympic champion, Linford Christie, was on hand to present the awards which aim to recognise sporting excellence across Gwent.

Graham Jones, from Pontypool United RFC was declared the winner of the Volunteer of the Year award which we sponsored.
Volunteer kit man Graham was awarded for his services to the Torfaen club over the past 20 years. He was recognised for his desire and determination to help the club to become successful both on and off the pitch.
WPD Distribution Manager Huw Thomas said: “As a key supporter of these awards, it was a pleasure to meet the finalists and to hear more about their achievements within the community.”
