Information for ICPs and IDNOs

Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) can undertake works to construct new assets and make connection alterations in accordance with their accreditations.

Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs) may adopt constructed assets for the ongoing maintenance and will be responsible for carrying out fault restorations and repairs on their network.

The following pages aim to provide some detailed information to ICPs and IDNOs about the agreements which need to be entered into, technical specifications for connecting assets to NGED's network and the processes to be applied in facilitating connections.

ICP accreditations and NGED agreements

ICPs are required to hold relevant NERS accreditations to undertake contestable connection works. More information is available here.  The onus is on the ICP to ensure they hold all of the required scopes and are entered into relevant agreements with NGED for the adoption of constructed assets, where applicable. NGED teams, however, undertake frequent due diligence checks, as set out in the bulletin available to view here.
