2022 Utility Week Award Winner

For the second year in a row we proved we are changing the face of the electricity industry by scooping the Disruptor of the Year award at the 2022 Utility Week Awards.

Hailed as the most prestigious awards event in the utility industry, competition between businesses is always incredibly tough.

The winners were unveiled on Tuesday (6 December) at a ceremony hosted by celebrity host Jo Brand. Our Take Charge project won the Disruptor of the Year Award for its game-changing new technology, space-saving design and cost saving potential.

Our System Development Manager, Paul Jewel, said: “The team is delighted to win this Award for our Take Charge substation project.

“Take Charge is a step-change in the way we build networks and a game changer for the provision of supplies to electric vehicle chargers. It adds speed and efficiency to the connection process and supports Governments Project Rapid work. It is a new product for a new net zero future.”

We had also been shortlisted for two further categories at the awards and were finalists for Utility of the Year and for our EQUINOX project - a first-of-its-kind project testing demand flexibility schemes at a local level.

This follows our success last year when we won the Disruptor of the Year for our work in developing the ground-breaking Flexible Power platform which has saved customers millions of pounds by delaying or averting the need for conventional network reinforcement and has been adopted by four of the UK’s five other electricity distribution network operators.
