Adding a dash of colour to the power network!

We have a new initiative which could enable communities to choose the colour of the electricity pylons in their area.

While the structure of the pylons and the stringent safety measures associated with them remain unchanged, communities could soon see them painted in a range of five colour options – pink, gold, purple, electric blue or lime.

The company has now established a register where communities can add their colour preference, which will be consulted when pylons need to be repainted.

WPD Pylon Painting Co-ordinator Lola Profi explained: “People often tell us how much they’d like to see a little colour added to our grey pylons to make them stand out more. This encouraged us to set up our new Pylon Augmentation for Future Obtrusive Impact (PARFOI) Register.

“We think it’s a good idea to involve the people we serve so they can feel the pylons are a colourful part of their communities.”
