Carlton Scroop's improvements

Power supplies to Carlton Scroop, near Grantham, are being further improved as part of a £150,000 initiative.

The new initiative, which starts at the end of July, involves removing 1.3km of overhead power line between Lodge Farm and across the golf course, and 300m in Newark Lane. Some 1.5km of underground cable will also be installed. The initiative will help to further improve supply reliability to around 300 properties in Carlton Scroop and the surrounding area.

“Our work will help to safeguard electricity supplies for our customers locally for years to come by improving the infrastructure and security of our network,” said Robert Ballentine, WPD’s Grantham Team Manager.

During the 12-week project, traffic management will be in place on Main Street, Newark Lane and Subrook Road while power cables are installed by our contractors. There will also be some parking restrictions and temporary road closures in Charity Street, with signed diversions in place.

Added Robert: “While work is underway, our aim will be to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum. We’ve been liaising with Carlton Scropp and Normanton-on- Cliffe Parish Council and we’ve also kept customers and businesses along the route informed by letter.”

The project forms part of our commitment to provide a consistently high level of service to our customers. We will invest over £7billion on our electricity network between now and 2023.
