'Less is More' hits our screens

The ‘Less is more’ project was a pilot project exploring a new approach to energy demand management. Its aim was to help communities reduce their electricity use, especially at peak times – and particularly to smooth out the ‘highs and lows’ of electricity demand.

'Less is More' is a collaboration between Western Power Distribution (WPD), the Centre for Sustainable Energy, Community Energy Plus, Marches Energy Agency, Severn Wye Energy Agency and the National Energy Foundation (NEF), and is being supported through Ofgem’s Low Carbon Network Fund (LCNF). Ten separate communities across the country are taking part in the project.

The ITV story largely focuses on community energy saving and simple ways it can be done with input from a local resident and a charity partner. Steven Gough, Innovation and Low Carbon Networks Engineer at Western Power Distribution is seen on screen discussing techniques of energy saving.

The ITV article was aired on ITV’s flagship regional news programme ‘Wales at Six’. This is great publicity for the project as in any one week ITV Wales’s news output will reach more than a million viewers across the country.
