A Parliamentary affair

Chief Executive Robert Symons and a number of senior managers have attended a parliamentary reception to raise the profile of the company’s Priority Service Register and the work being done to minimise power cuts.

Hosted by James Heappey MP, the Member of Parliament for the Wells Constituency, over 40 MPs and key stakeholders were able to find out more about the help available to vulnerable customers within our distribution area, when they experience a power cut.

Robert Symons said: “We were delighted to be hosted by James Heappey MP in Parliament to discuss our role of keeping the lights on and investing in the new skills and connections that the network needs for the future.

“We are investing £7.1 billion over the next eight years, improving network resilience, connecting new homes, businesses and generation to the network, and reducing the likelihood of power cuts. However, we cannot eliminate the chances of power cuts completely, so it is vital that we know who our most vulnerable customers are, so we can support them first. This is why we are encouraging vulnerable customers to join our free Priority Service Register.”

Customers who are medically dependant on electricity, or who have particular communication needs or who may just find a power cut difficult – like the elderly or disabled, can sign up to the confidential, free service by calling 0800 917 79 53 or by clicking here.
