Network improvements planned for Penzance

A £90k project to update the electricity network in Penzance will begin in February 2020.

Work to replace existing low voltage cables in Heabrook Park, Roscadghill Road and the surrounding area will begin on 5th February and last for about six months.

The scheme will improve network reliability for 182 customers.

Rolling traffic lights will be in place as a safety measure during the works. There may also be some restrictions to on-street parking.

Andrew Stark, WPD Team Manager, who is overseeing the project, said: “While there may be some disruption for road users, we will ensure this is kept to a minimum where possible.

“Projects like this have long-lasting benefits for people living in the area. It will not only help the network to cope with the demands of today but will ‘future proof’ the network to meet the demands of tomorrow, too.”

The improvements are part of our £7 billion network investment programme.
