New year, new career!

We are looking for talented, enthusiastic individuals to join our ranks as part of our 2017 apprenticeship recruitment campaign. We own and operate the electricity distribution network, providing power around the clock to homes and businesses across the Midlands, South West England and South Wales.

Apprentices will earn as they learn about operating electrical equipment.

“We’re looking to recruit around 89 craft apprentices as part of our ongoing recruitment strategy. Our apprentices have the opportunity to work towards an industry-specific qualification while gaining hands on experience at a local depot. Our in house training facilities are second to none and give individuals the opportunity to take their first step into a highly rewarding career with great future prospects,” said Theresa McConville, WPD’s Engineering Training Manager.

Apprenticeships take two to three years to complete and applicants can expect an excellent range of benefits including competitive salary rates and in-depth training and development. On completion, apprentices progress into a qualified Craftsperson role working on either overhead lines, the underground cable network or maintaining equipment in substations. The role would suit individuals who enjoy working outdoors and would relish the challenge of a hands-on practical job.

We employ over 6,500 employees all of whom have the opportunity to make a real and immediate different to our customers. Applications can be made online and further information is available on the Apprentice pages here.

We’ll be taking applications until 10 Feb 2017.
