Powerful investment for Lenton

Over £500,000 is being spent to further improve power supplies in the Lenton area of Nottingham.

We are committed to investing in our network to boost supply reliability and customer service levels. This new initiative, which is due to start on January 25, 2021, involves the reinforcement and renewal of electricity cables in Lenton.

Around 2km of cables are due to be replaced on Wollaton Road, Triumph Road, Derby Road and University North Road one and two and reinforcement work is also due to be carried out at three substations along the route. This will help to further improve supply reliability to over 1,000 properties in the area.

“This investment will help to safeguard electricity supplies for our customers in the region for years to come by improving the infrastructure and security of our network,” said Paul Davies, WPD Team Manager.

The work is expected to take 12 weeks to complete. During this time, traffic management will be in place to enable WPD contractors Doocey Civil Engineering to install the cables. Traffic management and signed diversions will be in place as required.

Paul added: “Our aim is to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum. We have been working with Nottingham Council and local businesses and residents to schedule our works to minimise the inconvenience in the area. We will also be keeping customers and business along the route informed by letter and by visits from WPD staff.”

Local residents have been informed of the work by letter and are invited to contact us if they have any questions on 0800 096 3080.
