Pylonman promotes Kolor Dash
Safety Superhero Pylonman is preparing to put in a powerful performance at this year’s charity Kolor Dash event. Our iconic, muscle-packed mascot dropped in at St David’s Hospice Care, Malpas, to check out preparations for the annual event staged at Newport Tredegar Park.

We sponsor this annual St David's Hospice Care event which sees participants cover each other and often everything else within reach with psychedelic powdered paint. This year’s Kolor Dash is on Sunday, May 19.
Our Corporate Communication Officer Karen Welch, said: “Kolor Dash is such a wonderfully fun event which we’re more than happy to support. I was particularly pleased to be able to bring Pylonman along this time and for him to really get involved in promoting this event. As long term supporters of the charity we are keen to do as much as we can to help support St David’s Hospice Care which does such brilliant work throughout the community.”
St David’s Hospice Care community fundraiser Skye Lewis, who helps organise the Kolor Dash, said: “Every year we get absolutely superb support for our Kolor Dash from WPD. Pylonman really got stuck in when he came to see us at Malpas. I’m now looking forward to getting my own back at Kolor Dash at Tredegar Park on May 19!”
An added attraction this year is the fabulous Gwent musical collective, The Sisterhood, who are ready to rock this year’s Kolor Dash in Newport. The multi talented band, who blasted last year’s inaugural Portstock music festival at Tredegar Park will play at the same venue again this year but this time for the Kolor Dash event.
Registration for Kolor Dash starts at 10am at Tredegar Park with the event getting under way at 11am. The dash, which covers a circular route in the park, is either a run or a walk with powder paint pelting stations set up along the route. Participants are encouraged to wear their whitest t-shirts. Sunglasses will be available to purchase on the day or you can wear your own if you don’t mind them being clogged with powder paint. All participants will receive an exclusive Kolor Dash snood (neck warmer) on finishing.
Entrants are advised to book as soon as possible as entries will not be taken on the day. Entry for the charity fun run is just £10 per adult and £5 per child (under 16). There’s also a discounted rate for ‘Family Entry’ of £25 that includes 2 Adults and up to 3 Children.
Kolor Dash event organisers are looking for volunteers to help to stage the event. Please get in touch if you can help as a welcome host, car park marshal, with registration, in merchandise sales, as a Kolor station marshal at one of four stations, Kolor station paint throwers or at the music station; foam station; water station or at the finish line.
