Support for new hospice

We have signed up as the first business to sponsor a room at a new £5m hospice in South Wales, which is due to open shortly.

The St David’s Hospice in Malpas, Newport, is set to admit its first patients in late spring and is currently looking to get a sponsor for each of 15 new rooms.

Powerful support: WPD’s Corporate Communication Manager, Paul Bishop is pictured with Emma Saysell, Chief Executive of St David’s Hospice Care viewing the room at the new in-patient facility.

The first purpose-built independent voluntary sector in-patient hospice to be built in Wales this century, it replaces an existing 10-bedded unit at St Anne’s in the city.

Corporate Communication Manager, Paul Bishop said: “We’re delighted to be the first to sign up as sponsors of a room. The care put into the design and the quality of build of the new facility is simply superb.”

Emma Saysell, the hospice’s Chief Executive said: “Our care depends on receiving ongoing support from our local community which is why we are so very grateful to businesses like WPD for continuing to give us such tremendous and sustained support.”
