Going deeper underground

Work to install 5km of new underground electricity cables in East Leake and Stanford on Soar is set to start on February 15.

We've been commissioned to carry out the work to provide an increased electricity supply to Stanford Hall.

Cable laying work will initially take place on sections of Gotham Road in East Leake during the February school holiday with minor signed diversions in place during this time. From February 22 the work will progress on to the A6006 Rempstone Road where temporary traffic signals will be in place for two weeks.

The cables are also due to be installed along sections of Salisbury Avenue, Potters Lane, Oldershaw Road, Castle Hill and Loughborough Road and signs will be displayed to advise motorists.

In addition to installing the new cables, we are making a £100,000 investment to install more modern equipment at substations along the route. This will help to further improve supply reliability to around 1,000 properties in East Leake and Stanford on Soar, and better accommodate any increased demands placed on the power network in the future.

Stephen Hayward, Team Manager for the area said: “Our aim is to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum while our work is being undertaken. We’ve been speaking with Nottinghamshire County Council to agree on traffic management plans which create the least disruption to traffic flow in the area. We are also liaising with the Parish Council and will be keeping customers along the route informed by letter.”
