Western Power Distribution signs up to Prompt Payment Code

We are offering a helping hand to the small businesses that provide us with supplies and services by signing up to the government’s Prompt Payment Code (PPC).

The PPC aims to improve cash flow to small businesses by requiring signatories to pay their invoices within 30 days. The requirement comes into force for us on April 1.

“At WPD we’re proud to serve the communities in which we operate and we see the PPC as another way we can support customers in our licence areas of the Midlands, South West and South Wales,” says Purchasing Manager Julie Smith.

“We’ve already carried out the work on our internal systems to ensure we are ready for our new obligations on April 1.”

Around 60% of our suppliers are small businesses. The Federation of Small Businesses estimates that around 50,000 businesses in Britain close every year due to cash flow problems caused by late payments.
